Chapman Names Schmid College Dean

Chapman University said Michael Ibba will be dean of Schmid College of Science and Technology, effective July 31.

Ibba is currently professor and associate director of the Infectious Disease Institute at the Ohio State University and co-director of the National Institute of Health’s training program in cellular, molecular and biochemical sciences.

“Dr. Ibba is an impressive scholar with a long track record of research in the important area of antibiotic resistance,” said Chapman President Daniele Struppa. “He will certainly help drive us forward as the dean of our science and technology school.”

Ibba is asked to ramp support for faculty-student research opportunities; and plans to develop new student training grants and look for collaborative opportunities across campus.

Chapman University has about 9,000 students with a main campus in Orange and graduate operations near the Irvine Spectrum.
