Fountain Valley luxury automaker Genesis Motor America confirmed Thursday a delay in the release of its much hyped, first ever SUV due to COVID-19.
Vehicle sales of the GV80 in the U.S. were set to begin this summer. Genesis also said the G80 sedan’s release is also now delayed.
Reservations for the SUV and sedan total 14,500, according to the automaker.
The company cited “COVID-19 related delays in the U.S.”that have pushed the sales start date to the fall.
Reports have cited production delays due to a lack of parts as the cause.
The GV80 is the luxury badge’s first SUV and was the star of its Super Bowl commercial this year, which featured Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, as Genesis pitched the idea the vehicle represented the next generation of luxury.
