The S&P 500 climbed 0.3% to 3,738.79 in midday trading.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.5% to 30,494.38 while the Nasdaq rose 0.3% to 12,890.67.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond ticked down 0.53% to 0.93%.
Oil was flat at $47.97 a barrel.
The price of gold rose 0.4% to $1,892 per ounce.
MEDICAL DEVICES
ClearPoint Neuro Inc. (Nasdaq: CLPT) of Irvine jumped 10% to $15.81 and a $271 million market cap. Shares of the medical device maker for neurological disorders yesterday announced funding of an additional $7.5 million of an existing convertible note on improved terms. Shares have soared four-fold since September.
Oncocyte Corp. (NYSE: OCX) was up 9.2% to $2.43 per share for a market cap of $163 million. Volume of 433,700 shares was about a fifth of the daily average of the past three months.
Other OC-based medical device companies also rose. Avid Bioservices Inc. (Nasdaq: CDMO) climbed 3.2% to $11.57 and a $699 million market cap. Glaukos Corp. (NYSE: GKOS) increased 3.2% to $74.93 and a $3.4 billion market cap. STAAR Surgical Co. (Nasdaq: STAA) rose 3.5% to $79.97 and a $3.7 billion market cap.
