The S&P 500 was up 0.2% in midday trading to 2,921.72.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average also rose 0.3%, to 26,621.28.
The Nasdaq was 0.6% higher to 7,928.07.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond increased 2.1% to 2.04%.
The price of gold fell 0.3% to $1,414.
The price of oil was also up 2.8% to $59.42 a barrel.
Skyworks Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: SWKS) shares increased 2.4% to $76.09 and a $13.2 billion market cap. All 14 peers also climbed today in advance of President Trump’s meeting this week with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Japan. The Irvine-based chipmaker supplies Apple Inc. and other companies that make products in China. The shares are up 14% thus far in June.
First American Financial Corp. (NYSE: FAF) declined 3.4% to $53.26 and a $6 billion market cap. Shares of the Santa Ana-based title and financial services firm are still up 19% this year.
