The S&P 500 inched up 0.1% in midday trading to 3,016.23.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was also 0.1% higher, at 27,212.73.

The Nasdaq rose 0.2% to 8,290.89.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond declined 1.5% to 2.03%.

The price of gold fell 0.3% to $1,438.

The price of oil climbed 0.8% to $58.52 a barrel.

HEALTHCARE

Ensign Group Inc. (Nasdaq: ENSG) rose 3.2% to $62.17 and a $3.3 billion market cap. The Mission Viejo-based healthcare facilities operator said yesterday it will report results Thursday after markets close. Shares are up 60% year-to-date.

San Clemente-based Glaukos Corp. (NYSE: GKOS) climbed 5.3% to $83.08 and a $3 billion market cap. The glaucoma device maker’s shares are up about 12% since July 22 when it announced it would license a drug delivery platform from San Diego-based Intratus, a privately held biotech. Glaukos is set to report second quarter results Aug 7.
