Chips from Syntiant Corp. in Irvine will power products using Amazon’s Alexa voice service, including devices that need the most power.

The Alexa system includes connected products that are “always-on,” requiring continuous and significant power, such as hearing aids, watches, cell phones and laptops.

Syntiant Chief Executive Kurt Busch said company chips, which require less juice than other chips, “don’t have any direct competition at these power levels.”
