The S&P 500 was 0.2% higher in midday trading to 2,873.00
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was flat at 26,186.14.
The Nasdaq climbed 0.6% to 7,892.83.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond jumped 1.3% to 2.51%.
The price of gold was flat at $1,295.
The price of oil fell 0.6% to $62.19 a barrel.
Shares in OC developers and home builders rose on a report by Irvine-based CoreLogic Inc. that home prices grew 4% year-over-year in February and that it expects prices to rise 4.7% over the next year.
TRI Pointe Group Inc. (NYSE: TPH) in Irvine rose 1.5% to $12.90 and a $1.8 billion market cap; Five Point Holdings LLC (NYSE: FPH) in Irvine about 1% to $7.61 and a $1.1 billion market cap; William Lyon Homes (NYSE: WLH) in Newport Beach 1.9% to $15.41 and a $583 million market cap; and New Home Co. Inc. (NYSE: NWHM) in Aliso Viejo 1.1% to $4.90 and a $98 million market cap. CoreLogic (NYSE: CLGX) also increased, by 1.5% to $38.45 and a $3.1 billion market cap.
