The S&P 500 was up 0.4% in midday trading to 2,861.01.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.7% to 25,673.53.

The Nasdaq increased 0.4% to 7,891.55.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 0.9% to 2.96%.

The price of gold was up 0.2% to $1,220.


Glaukos Corp. (NYSE: GKOS) in San Clemente climbed 5.1% to $40.07 and a $1.4 billion market cap. Shares had fallen 15% in two prior trading sessions after it reported on Aug. 3 a wider loss than estimated. The company makes medical devices to treat glaucoma.

ChromaDex Corp. (Nasdaq: CDXC) in Irvine increased 5.5% to $4.60 and a $252 million market cap. Today the company reported an expansion until September 2021 of its partnership with A.S. Watson Group, which is promoting ChromaDex’s nutritional ingredients products in Hong Kong and Macau. ChromaDex is scheduled to report second-quarter results after the close of markets on Aug. 9.


American Vanguard Corp. (NYSE: AVD) fell 5.1% to $20.45 and a $611 million market cap. Yesterday the Newport Beach maker of agricultural chemical products reported second-quarter sales of $107 million, which missed three analysts’ consensus estimate of $111.7 million.
