First American Financial Corp. (NYSE: FAF) in Santa Ana was up 3% to $52.50 and a $5.8 billion market cap. The title and insurance services company beat analyst expectations on earnings.
Banc of California Inc. (NYSE: BANC) was up 4% to $21.38 and a $1 billion market cap. The bank holding company beat analyst expectations for revenue and earnings.
BJ’s Restaurants Inc. (NASDAQ: BJRI) in Huntington Beach rose 2.8% to $31.70 and a $681 million market cap. The casual dining chain is scheduled to report earnings after markets close today. Shares are down about 30% since May.
Smith Micro Software Inc. (NASDAQ: SMSI) in Aliso Viejo was up 12.2% to $1.75 and a $25 million market cap. The mobile software maker reported lower revenue--$5.8 million in its most recent quarter compared with $6.5 million year-over-year—but cut its losses in the period—to a $1.7 million net loss from $4.6 million.
Tri Pointe Group Inc. (NYSE: TPH) was up another 2% today to $16.88 and a $2.6 billion market cap. Shares rose about 7% yesterday after the developer and homebuilder reported positively received quarterly results.
