The S&P 500 was up 0.1% in midday trading to 2,583.93.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.1% to 23,442.77.

The NASDAQ increased 0.1% to 6,755.83.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was flat at 2.39%.

The price of gold rose 0.4% to $1,279.


Irvine-based ChromaDex Corp. (Nasdaq: CDXC) rose 6% to $5.64 and a $271 million market cap. Shares in the ingredients maker have been rising since a positively received quarterly report last Thursday and with the pending closing of a $23 million private placement this Friday.


California First National Bancorp (OTCQX: CFNB) in Irvine rose 12% to $14.90 and a $153 million market cap. The bank voluntarily delisted Nov. 10 from Nasdaq to save money on compliance costs and began trading today on the OTC Markets Group Inc.’s OTCQX market.
