University of California-Irvine named Ronald Cortez vice chancellor for administrative and business services, effective Feb. 13. He replaces Wendell Brase, who held the position for 25 years.

Brase has been named associate chancellor for sustainability.

Cortez is currently vice president of administration and finance and chief financial officer at San Francisco State University, where he provides strategic direction for the campus’s business functions.

He earned a J.D. at the Santa Barbara College of Law, a master’s degree in organizational management at Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara and another master’s in public administration at Northern Michigan University. He got his bachelor’s degree in business administration at San Jose State University.
