Boeing Co. plans to move 2,500 jobs from Huntington Beach within the next four years, with a fraction staying in Orange County at facilities in Seal Beach and the majority going to El Segundo, Long Beach, St. Louis and Huntsville, Ala.
The move comes as the company begins to consolidate nationwide operations in its defense and space and security groups.
“Making better use of our facilities will enhance efficiency and promote greater collaboration,” Leanne Caret, president and chief executive for Boeing’s Defense, Space & Security operations. “This will help drive our global growth in Boeing’s second century.”
The company also said it plans to close facilities operations that account for 4.5 million square feet of space in Texas, Virginia and Washington state.
Boeing is the sixth largest employer in Orange County with an estimated 6,100 jobs; for more information see related coverage, list in Nov. 21 print edition of the Business Journal.
