Karma Fills New Exec Post

Karma Automotive LLC, the Costa Mesa-based manufacturer of luxury electric hybrid plug-in vehicles, hired Dennis Dougherty as president and chief operations officer, a new position.

Dougherty most recently served as president of the China-based division of Remy International Inc., which specializes in hybrid electric motors, starters and alternators. He also worked for General Motors as plant manager and for Saturn as vice president of manufacturing.

Karma, once known as Fisker Automotive and Technology Group LLC, said it will unveil its first car, the Revero, late this summer. The luxury electric sedan is produced at its new 556,000-square-foot facility in Moreno Valley.

“Dennis brings with him extensive operations experience in the U.S., China and Mexico which will be invaluable as we launch the Revero and expand our global footprint,” Chief Executive Tom Corcoran said in a statement.

Wanxiang Group Corp., one of the largest auto parts makers in China, acquired Fisker in a 2014 bankruptcy court auction for $149.2 million in cash. It also owns Fisker’s former lithium ion battery maker, A123 Systems Inc., which it got in 2013 for about $256.6 million.
