More NB Restaurants for Annual Fest

Newport Beach Restaurant Week launched this week with a slight increase to 61 restaurants compared with last year.

Just under 60 restaurants participated in the two-week event last year and recorded revenue of about $4.6 million, which works out to an average of about $75,000 per restaurant.

About 113,000 people participated in the event last year, an increase of 7% over 2014, according to Newport Beach & Co., the destination marketing organization that helps market the event for the city and the Newport Beach Restaurant Association.

All Newport Beach restaurants can participate in the event. Chefs and restaurant owners typically unveil new foods and appeal to new customers by offering fixed-price lunches and dinners. Prices run from $10 for lunch to $50 for dinner during the 14-day event.

This is the 10th annual restaurant week in Newport Beach, which has about 450 restaurants and food service business overall.
