The S&P 500 was up 0.2% to 2,119.11 in midday trading.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.2% to 18,240.53 and the Nasdaq was up 0.3% to 4,982.89.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was down 0.2% to 1.98%.

The price of gold rose 0.4% to $1,201.


Aliso Viejo-based Smith Micro Software Inc. was up 5% to $1.66 and a $75 million market cap. Needham & Co. upgraded the mobile products maker from “hold” to “buy” with a price target of $2.10, and cited its first profitable quarter and strong annual guidance for 2015 as the reason for the upgrade.


Irvine-based True Drinks Holdings Inc. was up 4.7% to 16 cents and a $7 million market cap. The beverage maker said Newport Beach-based venture capital firm Toba Capital Management had committed $4 million to the company.
