The S&P 500 rose 0.19% to 1,688.50 in afternoon trading Tuesday.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 0.10% to 15,537.07, while the Nasdaq was up 0.62% to 3,621.47.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 0.89% to 2.60%.

The price of gold was off 0.44% to $1,323.70 per ounce.

CorVel Corp. shares were up about 5% to $31.87, after reporting an increase in second-quarter revenue and earnings. The Irvine-based company provides workers’ compensation technology services and has a market value of $685.94 million.

Irvine healthcare software maker Quality Systems Inc. was up about 2% to $22.51 for a market value of $1.34 billion. Alabama-based Sterne Agee upgraded the company’s stock from “neutral” to “buy” on Monday, when it closed up less than 1%.

Irvine-based Western Digital Corp. rose about 3% to $64.40 for a market value of $15.20 billion. The disk drive maker’s stock is up about 44% so far this year.
