Irvine-based Inc.’s Red Digital Cinema Camera Co. has added another Hollywood credit to its resume thanks to a film being shot at its studio there.

The company’s Epic cameras also are being used to shoot the film, which is called Hitchcock and details the making of Alfred Hitchcock’s movie Pyscho.

The film will star Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock along with Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Biel.

It’s being directed by Sasha Gervasi.

Red’s cameras shoot motion pictures or still images at resolution on par or better than traditional 35-millimeter film. They are made in Irvine and generally sell for significantly less than competitors such as Arri Group, Canon and Panasonic.

Red has swiftly gained a following in the film industry, with the latest film adding to a list of credits that includes The Hobbit, Prometheus, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Great Gatsby and The Amazing Spiderman.
