TriZetto Group Inc. founder, chairman and chief executive Jeff Margolis received the 2009 National Human Relations Award from the American Jewish Commit-tee. He was selected for his efforts to improve the U.S. healthcare system and his commitment to community service.

Irvine-based KTGY Group Inc. earned two Grands and 10 Merits in the 2009 Gold Nugget design and planning competition. KTGY’s winning projects are in California and were selected from more than 375 entries from 14 western states and internationally. Winners were an-nounced in San Francisco at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference Gold Nugget Awards gala.

Costa Mesa-based Snell & Wilmer LLP associate Deborah Mallgrave was named Attorney of the Year by Public Law Center of OC. She received the honor at the center’s Volunteers for Justice awards dinner. She is a member of Snell & Wilmer’s commercial and business litigation team.

San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce named Friess Construction Group Business of the Year. Friess Construction donated construction management and supervision for the 7,052-square-foot Teen One Center addition to the Capistrano Valley Boys and Girls Club.

CalOptima awarded a Mary K. Dewane Safety Net Award to Share Our Selves. The award is recognition for healthcare given to residents who have no other access to care. Share Our Selves is a nonprofit that provides for the needs of those living in poverty in the county.

Mark Austin, Susan Barricella, Philip Blanchard, John Bradley, Natalie Gowin and Jeffrey Melching of Costa Mesa-based Rutan & Tucker LLP were named to the annual list of Rising Stars in Law & Politics Magazine.

California State University, Fullerton’s “Querer es Poder: 50 Examples” photo exhibit of 50 successful Latino alumni won a gold medal in the 2009 Council for Advancement and Support of Education Circle of Excellence Awards. Querer es poder is Spanish for “if you have the desire, you can achieve.” The exhibit was photographed by Ed Carreón, who is one of the 50 alumni.

Plans for the Anaheim Regional Transpor-tation Intermodal Center won a 2009 Pacific Coast Builders Conference Gold Nugget award for architectural excellence.

Cal State Fullerton Presi-dent Milton Gordon presented Diana Guerin with the Faculty Leadership in Collegial Governance Aw-ard. She is a professor of child and adolescent studies.

Newport Beach-based Newmeyer & Dillion LLP partners Jeff Dennis, Jay Freedman, Carol Sher-man Zaist, Chuck Krolikowski, Bonnie Roadarmel and John Bowerbank were named as Rising Stars in Law & Politics Magazine.

Wells Fargo & Co. named Alastair Inman as OC’s Teacher of the Year. He teaches science at Lexington Junior High School in Anaheim and lectures to future teachers in his human heredity and development class at Cal State Fullerton.

Sixteen high school seniors were awarded $2,000 scholarships from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California: Faith Blake of University High; Jessica Camacho of Seger-strom High; Jonathan Castanien of Orange High;Cassandra Cecil of Valley Christian High; Danyelle Cerillo of Sunny Hills High; Ashley Cole and Kaelyn Handsel of Brea Olinda High; Angel Flores of Century High; Sophia Lam of Fountain Valley High; Emilee Marshall of Sonora High; Nhat Tong and Clara Vu of La Quinta High; Richard Tran of Westminster High; Van Anh Tran of Garden Grove High; Brandon Yi of Troy High; and Tianli Zhang of Woodbridge High. They were honored for their community involvement, letters of recommendation and financial need.

The names of Teeter Marie Romero, William Cvengros, retired Sheriff Brad Gates and Randi and Joel Peshkin were added to San Juan Capistrano’s Wall of Recognition. The program was created in 2000 to recognize contributions that have made the city a more productive and pleasant place.

Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce and Laguna Beach Rotary Club awarded Jessica Hernandez and Enrique Escobedo $2,000 scholarships to Laguna College of Art & Design. Hernandez will be a senior in the fall, Escobedo a junior. Both are majoring in fine arts.
