Terumo Moving Operations to Michigan

Terumo Cardiovascular Systems, a medical device maker, is moving its research and development and manufacturing operations from Tustin to Ann Arbor, Mich.

The company said that it plans to bring 65 new jobs and $3.5 million in capital investment to its Ann Arbor operation because of an incentive program by the Michigan Economic Development Corp.

Terumo Cardiovascular is moving its manufacturing in order to gain operational efficiencies, said Mark Sutter, the company’s chief executive, in a release.

The device maker, a subsidiary of Japan’s Terumo Corp., is adding 14,000 square feet and a new chemistry lab to its Ann Arbor operations. Its products include heart-lung machines and intraoperative monitoring products used during cardiac surgery.

Terumo Cardiovascular said the transferring jobs include technical, manufacturing and professional positions and that the move will be done over the next nine months.
