Irvine’s Broadcom Corp. on Friday said it completed its buy of Santa Clara-based Zeevo Inc., a designer of chips for wireless audio headsets, for $32 million in cash and stock.
The buy is part of Broadcom’s push into Bluetooth, a technology for wirelessly linking earpieces to mobile phones, keyboards to computers and other uses.
The deal is the first for Broadcom this year after a series of buys last year.
Broadcom paid $31.3 million in cash and $700,000 in stock grants that convert into class A common stock.
The company said it may record a one-time charge in its first quarter results for research and development expenses related to the acquisition. The amount of the charge, if any, hasn’t been determined, the company said.
