Woburn Mass.-based Skyworks Solutions Inc. and Conexant Systems Inc. of Newport Beach have let expire a pact to share a Mexico facility.
Skyworks inherited the former Conexant test and assembly plant in Mexicali in 2002. Skyworks was created in 2002 with the combination of Conexant’s wireless chip business with Alpha Industries Inc. of Massachusetts.
Conexant paid Skyworks an average of $10 million per quarter last year and $5 million last quarter for use of the facility.
Skyworks now will use the facility entirely for its own products.
“After fulfilling our manufacturing support obligation to Conexant on June 30, we can focus exclusively on building leading-edge mobile platform solutions and next-generation linear products at our Mexicali assembly and test facility,” said Allan M. Kline, vice president and chief financial officer for Skyworks.
