Lennar Ups Triangle Plans

Lennar Corp. officially has upped its Platinum Triangle housing plans to 3,800 condominiums and apartments, according to the city.

Miami-based Lennar now plans another core site near the corner of State College Boulevard and Orange Wood Avenue, directly across from Angel Stadium of Anaheim, according to Sheri Vander Dussen, the city’s planning director.

The builder plans 1,132 housing units on that site, she said.

Lennar, which has a regional headquarters in Aliso Viejo, previously told the city it planned 2,681 apartments and condos, mostly in a key area around Gene Autry Way and Katella Avenue.

Still, its plans have been fluid. In previous interviews, company executives said the total would rise, probably to around 3,000 units.

The builder also has been raising the number of planned condominium high-rises, with the most recent total at 11 towers.

Lennar’s overall vision is set to go before the Anaheim Planning Commission on Sept. 7.
