Indexes slid today in midday trading as Amazon and Apple reported disappointing earnings.
The S&P; 500 fell 2% to 4,199.24.
The Dow 30 dropped 1.4% to 33,431.59.
The Nasdaq declined 2.4% to 12,559.21.
Crude oil rose 1% to $106.39 a barrel.
Gold was up 1% at $1,910 an ounce.
The yield on a 10-year bond jumped 1.1% to 2.895%.
HEALTHCARE
Biolase Inc. (Nasdaq: BIOL) dropped 13% to $4.26 per share. The Foothill Ranch-based dental laser maker yesterday announced it would effect a 1-for-25 reverse split of its stock so as to get above the $1 minimum threshold required to remain on Nasdaq. The shares closed yesterday at 20 cents.
Inari Medical Inc. (Nasdaq: NARI) rose 7.9% to $81.97 and a $4.3 billion market cap. The Irvine-based maker of devices to remove blood clots in veins will join the S&P; MidCap 400, effective prior to trading on May 3.
