Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, with campuses in Laguna Hills and San Clemente, placed among the top 50 hospitals in America, according to review organization Healthgrades Operating Co. Inc.
Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, with campuses in Newport Beach and Irvine, also made the list, which didn’t assign specific rankings.
Healthgrades, which is based in Denver, rates hospitals based on clinical performance across more than 20 common inpatient conditions and procedures. The company said it uses data such as in-hospital complications and risk-adjusted mortality rates to compile the ratings.
“Simply put, patients are more likely to have a successful treatment without major complications—and have a lower chance of dying” at one of the hospitals, Healthgrades said on its Web site.
