Salons, Barbershops Get Outdoor Guidance from State

The state released a guide for how salons and barbershops can offer their services outdoors, a week after the indoor operations were shuttered in some 30 counties.

The California Department of Public Health said salons and barbershops could operate under a tent, canopy or other similar structure with no more than one side closed off ensuring proper ventilation.

Anything that would require a client to enter an enclosed facility is still not allowed.

The guidelines followed a July 13 order that closed indoor salons and barbershops in counties such as Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Santa Barbara where COVID-19 cases were ticking up.

Last week’s order also came with the shuttering statewide of indoor operations for restaurants, wineries, zoos, museums and movie theaters. All bar operations were ordered closed.

The full revised industry guidelines for salons and barbershop operations, can be found here.
