The S&P 500 was up 0.8% to 4,507.73 in midday trading Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.7% to 35,456.09, while the Nasdaq increased 1.1% to 15,111.85.
Crude oil was up 2.1% to $68.85.
The price of gold rose 1.3% to $1,817.90.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury fell 1.9% to 1.3%.
Restaurant stocks were trading generally up on Friday, with the Dow Jones U.S. Restaurants & Bars Index rising about 1%.
Kura Sushi USA Inc. (Nasdaq: KRUS) was the biggest mover locally, up 6.1% to $51.98. The Irvine revolving sushi bar concept had a recent market cap of $502.6 million.
Huntington Beach-based BJ’s Restaurants Inc. (Nasdaq: BJRI) rose 5.3% to $44.67 for a market cap of $1 billion. CEO Greg Trojan is set to retire next week at which time President and CFO Greg Levin will step into the top spot.
Other OC restaurant stocks on the rise include Newport Beach-based Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (NYSE: CMG), which climbed 1.1% to $1,927.99 for a market cap of $54 billion. Lake Forest-based Del Taco Restaurants Inc. (Nasdaq: TACO) rose 3.6% to $8.82 for a market cap of $318.3 million. Costa Mesa-based El Pollo Loco Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: LOCO) was up 2.1% to $18.29 for a market cap of $669.7 million.
