Golden State Foods bought the portions of two companies it has held controlling interests in since 2012 and 2013.
The Irvine-based supplier to fast food restaurant chains acquired Arkansas City, Kan.-based KanPak U.S. and Shanghai-based KanPak China on undisclosed terms. It has owned its stakes in each since 2013 and 2012, respectively.
KanPak U.S. manufactures smoothies, desserts and beverages to restaurants and convenience stores domestically. KanPak China makes those products in China, as well as coffee creamers, to fast food restaurants.
The Business Journal ranked Golden State Foods as the No. 1 food & beverage supplier in OC with $7.3 billion in revenue last year; it’s also the second-largest privately held company here.
It employs 123 locally and about 6,250 companywide. Clients include McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A and Taco Bell; it supplies about 125,000 restaurants in 60 countries.
