The S&P; 500 climbed 0.6% to 4,574.87. in midday trading.
The Dow 30 rose 0.3% to 35,505.91 while the Nasdaq was also up 0.3% to 14,384.60.
Crude oil fell 0.3% to $87.96 a barrel.
Gold was up 0.5% to $1,810 an ounce.
The yield on a 10-year bond fell 2.94% to 1.747%.

Sonendo Inc. (NYSE: SONX) dropped 17% to $6.29 and a $166 million market cap. Volume of 54,842 was about a third of the daily average volume for the Laguna Hills-based maker of root canal systems.
Tarsus Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: TARS) fell 11% to $18.28 and a $378 million market cap. The Irvine-based researcher of eye-care treatments today announced it has completed enrollment of Saturn-2, a second Phase 3 trial for patients with Demodex blepharitis, and executed a $175 million credit facility with Hercules Capital Inc. (NYSE: HTGC) and Silicon Valley Bank (Nasdaq: SIVB).
