The S&P; 500 climbed 0.8% to 4,431.05 in midday trading.
The Dow 30 was up 0.6% to 34,415.
The Nasdaq jumped 1.7% to 13,598.06.
Crude oil surged 2.4% to $102.96 a barrel.
Gold increased 0.4% to $1,984 an ounce.
The yield on a 10-year bond dropped 2.6% to 2.655%.
Irvine-based Vizio Holding Corp. (Nasdaq: VZIO) rose 5.8% to $8.18 per share and a $1.6 billion market cap. The media company and flat-screen TV and soundbar maker led local technology gains in midday trading as the Nasdaq recovered from losses earlier in the week. Vizio said Wednesday it will report first quarter financial results on May 12.
Local restaurants were also on the upswing on Wednesday, led by Newport Beach-based Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (NYSE: CMG), which increased 3.2% to $1,582 and a $45.3 billion market cap. Shares for the restaurant chain are up more than 5% in the past month.
Huntington Beach-based BJ’s Restaurants Inc. (Nasdaq: BJRI) continued its climb on Wednesday, rising 3.1% to $27.95 and a $654.4 million market cap.
