The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.2% to 35,876.96, while the Nasdaq rose 0.4% to 15,563.04.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury climbed 1.7% to 1.58%.
Oil was up 0.7% to $84.16.
Gold increased 0.5% to $1,792.10.

Shares of loanDepot Inc. (NYSE: LDI) soared 21% to $7.93, after the Foothill Ranch-based company reported better-than-expected third-quarter revenue. The mortgage provider was trading six times above its daily average, with a market cap of $2.5 billion.
EVENTS
Business-to-business event producer Emerald Holding Inc. (NYSE: EEX), which has a large base of operations in San Juan Capistrano, surged 15.8% to $4.69, after reporting its third-quarter results Monday. The company, which produces trade shows and conferences, said it was able to hold 32 in-person events during the quarter as it narrowed its losses. Emerald had a recent market cap of $332.7 million.
