The S&P; was up 1.1% to 4,484 during midday trading, and the Dow rose 0.5% to 34,889 and Nasdaq increased 2.4% to 14,111.
Crude oil rose 1.1% to 87.89 a barrel.
Gold was up 0.6% to 1,797 an ounce.
10-year bond increased 0.5% to 1.791%.
HEALTHCARE
Alignment Healthcare Inc. (Nasdaq: ALHC) increased 13.3% to 7.43 with a 1.39 billion market cap. Shares of the Orange-based provider of Medicare Advantage insurance plans have declined about two thirds since last reporting its fourth quarter results in November.
CAR MANUFACTURING
Irvine-based Rivian Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: RIVN) jumped 12.2% to 64.02 with its market cap at $56.6 billion during midday. Shares of rival electric vehicle maker Tesla were upgraded today to outperform by Credit Suisse.
