The S&P 500 rose 0.7% to 3,690.80 in midday trading Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.6% to 30,134.96, while the Nasdaq was up 0.6% to 12,454.91.
Crude oil increased 0.5% to $45.85.
The price of gold fell 0.2% to $1,838.10.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury was up 5.2% to 0.97%.
Irvine-based Tilly’s Inc. (Nasdaq: TLYS) was down 13% to $8.19 for a market cap of $244 million. The men’s and women’s retailer reported revenue and earnings for the quarter ended Oct. 30 down from the year-ago period due to a slow start to the back-to-school selling season. Black Friday sales were also off from a year earlier, with the retailer saying they have turned positive since then.
Veritone Inc. shares were up 10% to $26.17, a day after the Costa Mesa-based company said it priced its stock offering at $18.60 per share. The artificial intelligence firm had a recent market cap of $737 million.
