University of California-Irvine will hold a week-long humanities ‘boot camp’ in August for 15 veterans of the armed forces preparing for college.
More than a dozen universities are participating in this summer’s push include Harvard, Yale, Columbia, MIT, USC, Notre Dame, Princeton, Georgetown, University of Pennsylvania, University of Chicago, Texas A&M and Amherst.
Work includes reading, discussing and writing about classic texts, and developing study skills, as part of a national push by the Warrior-Scholar Project in Washington, D.C.
