Marshall B. Ketchum University Provost Morris Berman will receive the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry at the association’s annual leadership luncheon in Boston in June.
The association was formed in 1941 as an academic leadership organization for promoting, advancing and achieving excellence in optometric education.
The award is based on Berman’s “exceptional leadership, outstanding contributions and exemplary commitment and dedication to [the association] and optometric education,” according to the association.
Berman joined the administration of the Fullerton university in 1985 as dean of academic affairs. He later added vice president to his title, then became senior vice president. He was named the university’s first provost in 2014. Berman plans to retire this year.
Marshall B. Ketchum is an independent, private, nonprofit, accredited educational institution and home to the Southern California College of Optometry.
