$18.5M for Coastal Corona del Mar Home

A 7,810-square-foot Corona del Mar home sold last month for $18.5 million, in the priciest reported sale for the coastal neighborhood year to date.

The four-bedroom, seven-bathroom home at 3620 Ocean Blvd. was built in 2017. It’s on the inland side of the city’s most prominent boulevard for high-end homes, near Inspiration Point.

It’s a block away from the water and “in the heart of Corona del Mar,” according to marketing materials from The Smith Group at Coldwell Banker Realty.

The home last sold in 2018 for $14 million, with last month’s sale marking more than a 30% premium.

Johnny Chang represented the undisclosed buyer.

It’s the fifth priciest home sale for the neighborhood in the past year and adds to a slew of recent top-dollar sales along the coast in Newport Beach over the past month.

Coastal Deals

Over the past month, several homes close to the water in the Newport Beach area have traded hands, from the Balboa Peninsula to Lido Isle.

At the start of the month, a bayfront residence in the Dover Shores neighborhood of Newport Beach sold for $11.4 million. The 4,347-square-foot home at 1014 Polaris Drive last sold in 2010 for $3.3 million; it was built in 1963.

Mark Taylor and Dylan Mason of Compass had the listing; Andrew Carter and Mary Galletti of Fiv Realty Co. represented the buyers.

Last month, records indicated a home built in the 1960s on the waterfront of Lido Isle sold for $11.4 million, a notable price bump from the $7.6 million it sold for in 2021. The 3,119-square-foot home is expected to go through an extensive remodel.

Also in May, a 2,940-square-foot Balboa Coves waterfront home sold for $8.5 million.

The property, built in 2020, was marketed as the only newer construction, single-family home on the waterfront with a private dock in Newport Beach listed under $9 million. It last sold in 2020 for $5.8 million.

Annie Clougherty and Neda DeSigio of Compass had the listing; Brian Doubleday of Doubleday Group represented the buyers.

Across the water on Bayshore Drive, a 3,781-square-foot home on a 50-foot-wide corner parcel sold for nearly $8.8 million. Heather Kidder of Arbor Real Estate had the listing, while Paul Daftarian of Luxe Real Estate represented the buyers.

For Sale

On the for-sale side, there’s several homes on the market along the Newport Beach coast for upward of $20 million.

Among the priciest is 2168 E. Oceanfront, a new build dubbed The Wedge House on two oceanfront lots at the end of the Balboa Peninsula.

The 3,725-square-foot home counts four bedrooms and four bathrooms and “reflects the efforts of revered Graham Architecture and premier custom homebuilder Chris Gallo of Gallo Builders,” notes listing materials from The Smith Group.
