Indexes fell in midday trading on fears of an escalating trade war with China.

The S&P 500 declined 1.7% to 2,708.62 while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 1.5% to 24,225.47 and the Nasdaq fell 2.3% to 7,515.41.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was 0.8% lower at 2.88%.

The price of gold declined 0.1% to $1,269.

MANUFACTURING

Kaiser Aluminum Corp. (Nasdaq: KALU) in Foothill Ranch fell 4.2% to $104.86 and a $1.8 billion market cap. Exchange-traded funds holding shares have experienced outflows over the past month, IHS Markit reported on June 23. Shares of the metals processor are up 8% since May 1.

TECHNOLOGY

TTM Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: TTMI) in Costa Mesa dropped 4.5% to $18.05 and a $1.9 billion market cap. Shares of the circuit board maker are up 27% since May 2, when it reported first-quarter revenue that topped the consensus estimate of three analysts.
