U.S. indexes climbed on strong corporate profit reports at the start of the earnings season.
The S&P 500 was up 1.1% in midday trading to 2,685.39. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.3% to 24,661.83 and the Nasdaq increased 1% to 7,173.46.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 0.5% to 2.84%.
The price of gold increased 0.22% to $1,351.
TECHNOLOGY
Santa Ana-based Iteris Inc. (Nasdaq: ITI) climbed 4.4% to $5.08 and a $168 million market cap. Shares of the maker of systems that collect data on transportation and agriculture have climbed 21% since April 9, when they hit a 52-week low.
HEALTHCARE
ChromaDex (Nasdaq: CDXC) rose 6.6% to $4.36 and a $239 million market cap. Shares of the Irvine-based maker of ingredients for nutritional supplements are still down 32% year to date.
