The S&P 500 was down 0.1% in midday trading to 2,547.30.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was flat at 22,772.63.
The NASDAQ was unchanged at 6,589.90.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond fell 0.4% to 2.36%.
The price of gold rose 0.8% to $1,285.
Irvine-based Boot Barn Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BOOT) declined 4.8% to $8.20 and a $218 million market cap. Shares in the western wear retailer, which runs 218 stores in 31 states, have fallen by half since its 52-week high in November.
ChromaDex Corp. (NASDAQ: CDXC) rose 3.3% to $4.41 and a $212 million market cap. The Irvine-based maker of ingredients for dietary supplements and other products said it hired Kevin Farr as its new chief financial officer, effective immediately. Farr in July quit Mattel Inc., where he was CFO since 2000.
