Irvine-based St. Joseph Health said today that Dr. Jack Cox is its new senior vice president and chief medical officer.
St. Joseph Health operates 16 hospitals in California, Texas and New Mexico, including St. Joseph Hospital-Orange, St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton and Mission Hospital, which has campuses in Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach.
Cox is currently senior vice president and chief quality officer for Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, which is St. Joseph Health’s partner in St. Joseph Hoag Health. Cox joined Hoag, which has campuses in Newport Beach and Irvine, in 2006. His career also includes a stop at Charlotte, N.C.-based buying group Premier Inc.
St. Joseph said in a statement that Cox would focus on things such as helping it work more closely with physician leadership and creating a “road map” for clinical excellence and expertise in population health management.
The hospital operator also noted that it has been “several years” since it has had a chief medical officer and that it had several other executives who assumed the duties Cox would cover.
