The Irvine Marriott will be the site of a Washington D.C.-based nonprofit organization’s annual leadership summit next week for the event’s first time in the city.

The International Economic Development Council event is expected to draw some 400 economic development professionals for its Feb. 2-4 run. It’s usually held in Florida or Texas.

Irvine Mayor Steven Choi, University of California at Irvine Chancellor Michael Drake and Five Point Communities Chief Executive Emile Haddad are some of the local speakers.

The 485-room Irvine Marriott recently completed a lobby renovation that included updated furniture and art for its greatroom sitting area.
