The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.77% to 16,448.67, while the Nasdaq was off 0.92% to 4,138.29.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond slipped 1.09% to 2.99%.
The price of gold rose 1.86% to $1,224.70 per ounce.
Irvine-based healthcare facilities owner Sabra Health Care REIT Inc. was off about 3% to $25.40 for a market value of $962.18 million. Chicago-based Zacks Investment Research Inc. lowered its rating on the company’s stock from "outperform" to "neutral" this week.
Irvine-based professional services firm Resources Connection Inc. was down about 3% to $13.91. Resources Connection, which had a recent market value of $552.56 million, is expected to report results for its November quarter after market close Thursday.
Irvine-based TRI Pointe Homes Inc. was down about 4% to $19.12 for a market value of $604.13 million. Homebuilders were trading down on Thursday.
