Freedom Innovations LLC, an Irvine-based maker of prosthetic devices, has received a minority equity investment from diversified manufacturer Parker Hannifin Corp.
The amount of the investment was not disclosed.
Cleveland-based Parker Hannifin makes motion and control technologies, including fluid power systems and thermal management products. The company had $1 billion in profit on $13.2 billion in sales for the year ended June 30. It has about 57,400 employees overall. Publicly traded Parker Hannifin had a recent market capitalization of about $19.2 billion.
Freedom Innovations focuses on devices for lower limb amputees. Products include fixed ankle prosthetic foot systems, knee products and other components.
Freedom Innovations, which was founded in 2002, is headed by Chief Executive Maynard Carkhuff. It has another office in the Netherlands.
