Three of the four Orange County-based automakers trailed the pace of sales of new vehicles nationally in November, according to New Jersey-based market researcher Autodata Corp.

U.S. sales rose 4.6% last month to about 1.24 million, and are on pace to reach 17.2 million for the year.

Hyundai Motor America in Fountain Valley sold 53,672 vehicles in November, a 4.2% decrease from the same period last year. The automaker’s sales so far this year are about flat at 657,778 cars and light trucks.

Kia Motors America Inc. in Irvine sold 44,936 vehicles last month, a 1% decrease from November 2013. Its year-to-date sales are up 6.1% to 534,647 cars and light trucks.

Mazda North American Operations in Irvine reported a 2.4% uptick in sales last month, with 21,242 vehicles sold in the U.S. market. Its year-to-date sales, totaling 280,993 vehicles, were up 7.7 % compared to the same 11-month period last year.

Cypress-based Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. sold 6,534 vehicles last month, up 7.6% from November 2013. It was the automaker’s best November sales total in the last seven years. Mitsubishi sold 71,098 vehicles in the first 11 months of the year, a 27.7 % increase from the same period last year.

U.S. auto dealers have sold 15 million vehicles since the beginning of the year, a 5.4% increase compared to the same 11-month period last year.
