The S&P 500 rose 0.49% to 1,878.64 in afternoon trading Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.58% to 16,544.89, while the Nasdaq was up 0.74% to 4,104.55.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 0.67% to 2.69%.
The price of gold fell 0.10% to $1,297.70 per ounce.
Irvine-based CoreLogic Inc. was off about 4% to $427.17 a day after the company reported first-quarter results that included a swing to a net loss of $3.9 million compared to a $31.6 million profit in the year-ago period. It had a recent market value of $2.48 billion.
Aliso Viejo-based Avanir Pharmaceuticals Inc. rose about 7% to $3.40 for a market value of $517.81 million. The company said Monday that results from a study on its Nuedexta drug will be presented at the American Academy of Neurology annual meeting in Philadelphia this week.
Irvine professional services firm Resources Connection Inc. was up about 6% to $13.54 for a market value of $524.72 million.
