U.S. stock markets eased off record highs seen yesterday after the Federal Reserve said it would continue its monthly bond-buying program.
The S&P 500 was down about 0.20% to 1,722.03 in afternoon trading Thursday.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 0.23% to 15,640.39, while the Nasdaq rose 0.06% to 3,786.09.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was up 0.74% to 2.73%.
The price of gold rose 5.02% to $1,373.30 per ounce.
Aliso Viejo-based chipmaker Microsemi Corp. was down about 3% to $25.40 for a market value of $2.37 billion. Wells Fargo lowered its rating on the company's stock from "outperform" to "market perform."
Anaheim-based drug maker Questcor Pharmaceuticals Inc. was down about 5% to $62.21 for a market value of $3.67 billion.
