The price of gold rose 3.18% to $1,323.10 per ounce.
Newport Beach-based Acacia Research Corp. slipped about 5% to $19.64 for a market value of $981.08 million. The company is set to release results for this third quarter after market close today.
Lake Forest-based Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc. was up about 8% to $5.09 for a market value of $76.12 million. The company is up 23.54% so far this week and up 79% so far this year. Quantum Fuel Systems announced $500,000 in purchase orders earlier this month.
Aliso Viejo-based drug maker Avanir Pharmaceuticals Inc. rose about 3% to $4.50 for a market value of $654.61 million. The company is up 55.51% so far this year.
