The S&P 500 was up 0.07% to 1,804.06 in afternoon trading Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.02% to 16,069.39, while the Nasdaq was up 0.41% to 4,034.19.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 2.11% to 2.75%.
The price of gold fell 0.14% to $1,239.80 per ounce.
Irvine-based Tilly's Inc. shares plunged about 24% in afternoon trading to $12.01, a day after the company issued a disappointing outlook for the current quarter citing weak shopper traffic. Tilly's has a market value of about $333.62 million.
Other action-sports retailers also were trading down.
Anaheim-based Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. was down about 3% to $2.90 for a market value of $198.84 million. Lynnwood, Wash.-based Zumiez Inc. was off about 7% to $27.45 for a market value of $830.34 million.
Both retailers are expected to report quarterly results Dec. 5.
ICU Medical Inc. was up about 2% to $65.91 for a market value of $971.12 million.
American Vanguard Corp. was up about 3% to $28.31 for a market value of $811.36 million.
