The S&P 500 fell 0.08% to 1,766.50 in afternoon trading Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.02% to 15,641.56, while the Nasdaq rose 0.17% to 3,943.53.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was up 1.77% to 2.64%.
The price of gold was off 0.38% to $1,309.70 per ounce.
Costa Mesa-based TTM Technologies Inc. was up about 12% to $9.63, after JPMorgan Chase & Co. upgraded the company's stock from "neutral" to "overweight." The printed circuit board maker had a recent market value of $795.72 million.
TRI Pointe Homes Inc. was up about 3% to $16.57, a day after the homebuilder said it would pay $2.7 billion to buy Weyerhaeuser Co.'s homebuilding unit. TRI Pointe shares surged as much as 15% in morning trading Monday on the news before closing down about 9%. The homebuilder had a recent market value of $523.56 million.
