Retail franchisee Wayne Heck of Newport Beach is set to open the first Island Sole footwear store on the U.S. mainland later this month.

Island Sole, whose parent is headquartered out of Honolulu, sells shoes and slippers by several brands, including locals OluKai and Sanuk, both of Irvine, and San Clemente-based Rainbow Sandals.

The new Island Sole operated by Heck will be located in Fashion Island and will be the company’s first outside of Hawaii.

Heck operates other branded stores, including the Häagen-Dazs and Sanuk stores at Downtown Disney in Anaheim. He operates a second Häagen-Dazs at Fashion Island.

Island Sole’s planned opening at Fashion Island will follow the grand opening of See Eyewear’s first Orange County location at the upscale retail center earlier this month.

See Eyewear sells prescription sunglasses, designer frames and eyeglasses.

Fashion Island nabbed another first-in-OC concept with jewelry boutique Kendra Scott opening on April 15.
