The S&P 500 rose 0.13% to 1,688.10 in afternoon trading Thursday.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 0.03% to 15,546.27, while the Nasdaq was up 0.58% to 3,600.24.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 0.58% to 2.60%.
The price of gold was up 0.70% to $1,328.80 per ounce.
Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro Inc. shares were up about 8% to $22.35 on its second-quarter results and improvements in its Australia business. Ingram Micro had a recent market value of $3.4 billion.
Irvine disk drive maker Western Digital Corp. shares were off about 6% to $63.29 for a market value of $14.96 billion. The company on Wednesday provided guidance for the current quarter that fell slightly below Wall Street analyst expectations.
Aliso Viejo-based QLogic Corp. shares were up about 3% to $10.97 ahead of its expected June quarter earnings to be released after market close Thursday. QLogic had a recent market value of $976.78 million.
Homebuilders were generally down on Thursday afternoon.
Newport Beach-based William Lyon Homes was off about 5% to $23.47 for a market value of $737.83 million.
Irvine-based TRI Pointe Homes Inc. slipped about 4% to $15.52 for a market value of $490.39 million.
Irvine-based Standard Pacific Corp. was down about 6% to $7.75 for a market value of $2.69 billion.
